Amalurra, a project for the regeneration of life
Welcome to AMALURRA, in the municipality of Artzentales (Enkarterri region), a space designed in the middle of nature to offer you a unique experience of enjoyment, wellness and care in connection with the Earth. Our philosophy is based on regeneration, through revitalizing the connection of the individual with himself, others and nature.
From the Basque “Mother Earth”, the seed of Amalurra was born in the 90’s, within the first women’s circles that Irene Goikolea convened in Bilbao, with the purpose of “awakening the deep feminine or the sentient body to reconnect with everything that shapes us internally and externally, as well as with that which contains us, the Earth”. And from her hand, in this place, the Amalurra community was born.
The main objective was to recover the balance of the natural environment
To achieve this, the land was regenerated respecting its genuine nature, caring for and maintaining the original species. Special attention was paid to repopulating a 12-hectare plot of land with more than 5,000 native trees. At the same time, the old buildings in ruins were renovated and the waters were channeled to drain them and raise landscaped areas, orchards and new forests.
Thus was created Amalurra, whose corners you can enjoy today: a space for the encounter with oneself through the other and nature with the intention of recovering one’s own empowerment, understood as the individual and collective identity that is included in something bigger, whether it is the community, the town, the culture or the Earth.
Amalurra, a pioneering project based on coexistence and unity, culminated its journey as an intentional community at the beginning of 2020 to give way to a new phase in which an open community is being configured with whoever resonates with the essence and pillars of Amalurra and wishes to collaborate with this proposal.
