The Grotto of the Goddess
The Grotto of the Goddess is a construction loaded with spiritual and historical significance
It was originally designed by the former inhabitants, the Congregation of the Holy Family, and for decades it housed an altar with the image of the Virgin Mary. Far from erasing its imprint, it was decided to integrate it in tune with the contemporary spirituality of the project and it was restored respecting the energy of the place.
The image that formerly occupied the grotto was known as the Dispenser of Graces. This is still the defining quality of the current figure, inspired by the basic fundamentals of the project’s information, which it embodies. The image is a symbolic representation of Mother Nature and more specifically in her life-giving-creating facet, as she is pregnant. The image of the Goddess holds in her hands a sphere that symbolizes the feminine that gestates, contains and balances. This image connects with the universal dimension of the sacred feminine, expressed here as a creative, welcoming and transforming power. It also represents the reconciliation of traditions: the Christian heritage with devotion to the Earth, reminding us that love, compassion and surrender can have multiple cultural expressions.
The grotto is a space of prayer, contemplation and recollection, where people of different beliefs have been able to connect with their inner faith. Its serene presence in the Amalurra landscape continues to offer an intimate refuge for the soul in search of silence, beauty and meaning.
