Stone Circle

The Stone Circle was our first construction, which we built with stones that were scattered or buried in the ground

Many of them had been used in the past to channel water to the previous mill. Those stones, which generated physical energy, now hold symbolic energy: they channel meaning, direction and a shared purpose.

Its construction gave us the opportunity to understand something essential: a single stone does not form a circle, but by leaning on each other, a living and stable structure emerges. This image reflected our communal longing and revealed to us a fundamental principle: the sacred is born in interdependence.

The Circle was designed in harmony with the elements and forces of nature. Each of its entrances is oriented towards the four cardinal directions, which act as portals through which the invisible energies of the Earth flow. In this way, we also attended to what cannot be seen, as our ancestors did. Therefore, with this space, we wanted to honor nature and give space and content to each and every one of our relationships, both interpersonal and with the universe.

In the circle, and around a fire, we celebrate equinoxes, solstices and full moons, remembering that we are part of an invisible network that sustains life and deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated. In its center there is a ritual space that honors the guardians of the place and the earth elementals.

Guarding the main door, the symbol of the turtle represents wisdom and persistence. It is accompanied by two lauburu: one associated with life and the other with death (lauburu comes from the Basque words lau, “four” and buru, “head”). With them, the circle embraces the complete cycle of existence and alludes to our most indigenous and ancestral essence.
