Discover, surprise and share unique experiences in Amalurra.

Why are we an Ecohotel?

In the 90’s, going beyond a sustainable model and good environmental practices, in Amalurra we bet on the preservation and repopulation of the land, planting more than 5,000 native trees. Today, we seek to be a reference in Regenerative Tourism.

Amalurra’s tourism activity is focused on regenerating the land, making a culture visible, energizing an environment and transforming it into a conscious, sustainable and inclusive leisure proposal that invites us to reconnect in balance with the natural and social environment that surrounds us. Our love for the land and nature determines the development of our activity from the respect for them.

At Amalurra, sustainable environmental practices are based on three fundamental principles: conservation, regeneration and restoration.

Environment

  • Regeneration and reforestation of land with more than 5,000 native trees.
  • Restoration of original buildings taking into account bioconstruction and geobiology parameters.
  • Construction of new bioclimatic buildings while minimizing, as much as possible, the impact of construction using noble materials and making use of bioconstruction and geobiology construction systems.
  • Use of ecological cleaning products.
  • Ecological amenities available in refillable containers.
  • Promotion of good environmental practices among guests.
  • Waste management, recycling and composting.
  • Minimization of kitchen waste and wastage, as well as creativity in the design of menus and daily specials to minimize food waste.
  • Restaurant with km0 product, extensive local livestock farming and purchase of raw materials in bulk.
  • Disposable packaging made from biodegradable and compostable renewable raw materials used for take-out food.
  • Use of recycled paper.

Water

  • The original terrain did not have a proper filtration of river water and therefore there were areas of stagnant water, negatively affecting the environment. Significant work was done with the land and the environment to promote proper channeling of water.
  • Conscious towel and sheet change policy.
  • Installation of faucets and shower heads with a flow rate of less than 9 liters/minute.
  • Our restaurant offers vegetarian and vegan options which have a lower environmental impact.

Energy

  • Implementation of LED lighting and installation of detectors and timers.
  • Installation and use of solar thermal panels for water heating and radiant heating.
  • Heating and hot water from biomass (pellet) boilers – reducing CO2 emissions by 70%.
  • All contracted electricity comes from renewable energy sources –
  • Goiener (renewable energy generation and consumption cooperative).
  • Maintenance and good care of the machinery.
